Travel & Logistics

  • Yes, most international visitors need a visa. The good news is it's pretty straightforward:

    • Apply for an e-Visa online at indianvisaonline.gov.in

    • Tourist e-Visa costs $10-80 depending on your nationality

    • Apply at least 4 days before travel (we recommend 2-3 weeks to be safe)

    • You'll need a passport valid for 6+ months, recent photo, and return flight booking

    • Choose "multiple entry" if you want to explore other cities

    • Print your e-visa - immigration will ask for it at the airport!

  • Book 3 months in advance for better prices, from 3-6 months in advance the prices fluctuate so best to keep an eye. Fly into Kempegowda International Airport (BLR) in Bangalore. We recommend to arrive 2-3 days early to beat jet lag, do your attire shopping and explore the city before the wedding festivities begin.

  • Keep it simple:

    • Check with your doctor about routine vaccinations

    • Get travel insurance that includes medical coverage

    • Bring prescriptions in original containers with extra supplies

    • Pack basic stomach remedies (just in case!)

    • Stick to bottled water and avoid ice in drinks

  • The Indian Rupee (INR) is your friend:

    • We are looking into organizing a way to get cash at your hotel at a favourable fee - more info coming!

    • Credit cards work at hotels and restaurants, but carry cash for street vendors or rickshaws

    • Tipping is appreciated: 10% at restaurants, ₹20-50 for helpful services

  • Kempegowda International Airport is about 40km from the city center:

    • Uber (most convenient): 45-90 minutes depending on traffic, costs ₹800-1200

  • Uber is your friend - you can use it to book taxis or rickshaws/tuktuks. For tuktuks ensure you have cash to pay the driver, regular taxis can be paid by creditcard via the uber app.

  • It's an adventure! Here's what to expect:

    • Rush hours: 8:00-10:30 AM and 5:30-8:30 PM get pretty intense

    • Buffer time: Always add 30-45 minutes to your estimated travel time

    • Weekend evenings: Can be busy too, especially around popular areas

    • Pro tip: Use Google Maps for real-time traffic updates

Essentials

  • Download an eSIM app before you travel: Airalo, Holafly, or Nomad for instant data plans. eSIM plans start around $5-15 for a week with plenty of data for maps, photos, and staying in touch. Local SIM cards are available at the airport or phone shops, but requires paperwork and waiting

  • Check your RSVP/invitation for plus-one details. If you need to add someone or have questions about bringing a guest, contact us at as soon as possible so we can plan accordingly.

Food & Dietary

This is a completely vegetarian wedding, and the explosion of flavors will make you forget meat ever existed. Fair warning: you might leave questioning why vegetables taste so boring back home!

  • Nilesh comes from a Jain family that follows Hindu traditions for ceremonies, so our wedding will have all the beautiful Hindu rituals. Our traditional ceremony is rooted in Hindu customs and traditions.

  • We'll set you up in Bangalore, if you arrive two days before the wedding, we'll ensure you'll be all set! We're also looking into rental options.

  • This website allows you to shop by occasion which provides some inspiration to get a feeling for it (don't order online).

  • Don't over-do on your haldi festival outfit and stick to one outfit for the second day. We are also looking into rental options. Need some more advice? Just shoot us a note!
